Central Park West By: The Lady of The Night Out Central Park West is one of the most fashionable streets in Manhattan. Central Park West is a west side eatery serving up a taste of the Big Apple. Give a Bronx cheer for a bar with great food. While the hot pastrami on rye scores as many home runs as the Yankees, my favorite is the Forgetaboudit hamburger. This burger combines the chicness of Manhattan with the earthly, in-your-face flavors of Brooklyn. It starts with a juicy, greasy, heart clogging hunk of perfectly grilled ground beef. Piled atop is a layer of picture perfect spinach sautéed in garlic and virgin olive oil (the menu made a big deal about the virgin part!)-- that's crowned with slabs of feta cheese. A huge toasted sesame seed bun holds the whole thing together. All the flavors seem to ooze together to create a great dish. I'm not pregnant yet I couldn't stop eating the juicy dill pickles. They remind me of the ones on the table in the Jewish delis of the '50's. And the fries - they're as crisp as bacon and don't sport one molecule of grease. I thought McDonald's served the best fries until I had these. We sat at a table but if you eat at the bar a cold glass of beer costs just 99 cents. My frosty brewski made my forgetabouddit burger something to remember. Central Park West is located at 4760 west Sahara even though the restaurant itself faces Decatur. The phone is 258.1919.
